Concerto for Orchestra is a reworking of Sorensen Variations, a work composed in 2000 for trombone and string quartet.   The work maintained the original form and materials, but with the expanded colour palette, certain sections underwent radical transformations.  As well, keeping to its title, a conscious effort was made to write challenging parts for all of the players in the orchestra.
